Country Music Association Awards Buzz

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards, which occur in early April and will be broadcasted on CBS. Dick Clark Productions produces the show at the famous MGM Grand in Los Vegas. This year’s performers will include Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Toby Keith. Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton will host this year’s ceremony.

Country music fans will have the opportunity to choose some of the winners this year. Fans will vote for the Entertainer of the Year as well as the Top New Solo Vocalist and Top New Vocal Duo or Group. The act who wins in both categories will go on to duel for Top New Artist, which will also be decided by fan voting.

Miranda Lambert’s award nominations piled up this year, with the singer earning seven nominations. Lambert is nominated for awards that include Top Female Vocalist, Song of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year. She’s also nominated for Single Album of the Year,  Vocal Event of the Year, and twice nominated for Video of the Year. Kenny Chesney trails with five ACM nominations. He received a nod for “Hemingway’s Whiskey” for Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year and Video of the Year for “The Boys of Fall.” The Entertainer of the Year contenders are Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, and Brad Paisley. The men who are competing for Top Male Vocalist of the Year are Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, George Strait, and Blake Shelton. The leading ladies for Top Female Vocalist are Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Taylor Swift, Lee Ann Womack, and Carrie Underwood.
